PRESS: Defense Ministry, UAC to increase price of 39 jets

MOSCOW, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- The Defense Ministry and United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) will soon boost the value of a 140 billion ruble contract to deliver 39 military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A, Kommersant business daily reported on Thursday.

The 2012 agreement should have loaded facilities of Ulyanovsk-based aircraft manufacturing plant Aviastar-SP until 2018. However, the producer suffered a one billion ruble loss per plane due to an incorrectly calculated price and currency fluctuations.

Kommersant said that a new contract will raise the price of each aircraft to around 5 billion rubles from 3.5 billion rubles so that Aviastar-SP could break even.

Negotiations will continue, but the Defense Ministry has no fundamental objections, a source close to the authority told the daily.
